Internat Schloss Torgelow on the road: Team project “Baking” in Zossen
A week with self-designed buttercream flowers, artistic cookies, original cake pops, and fantastic 3D cakes – all handmade with love and lots of fun!
On Monday, the first day of our five-day team project trip, we arrived in Mahlow after a two-hour drive. There is the shop of our “Baking Fairy” Nadine, who conducted a baking workshop with us for the second time in a row.
After a joyful greeting, we immediately got started and mixed an American buttercream, as piping buttercream flowers was on the agenda. Once the piping bags were filled and the appropriate nozzles were fitted, Nadine showed us the first of several techniques for piping different flowers. Surprisingly, we initially found it quite challenging, but Nadine continually encouraged us to keep practicing. It paid off, as by the end of the day, we had created some beautiful blooms. Additionally, we quickly took care of our weekly grocery shopping, which turned out to be quite substantial in some areas. Upon arriving at our accommodation, Mara and Betty whipped up a very delicious pasta dish with Bolognese.
A day later, we set off at 9:30 AM to learn how to decorate cookies in a professional manner. To do this, we first prepared different colors of royal icing – a mixture that was particularly suitable for our task today. After five hours of concentrated work, we were able to present fantastic cookies. After we freshened up briefly, we headed towards Berlin to have dinner at an Indian restaurant before the current show at the Friedrichstadt-Palast. Later, we arrived in Zossen very exhausted and tired, but we all enjoyed the show very much.
On Wednesday, we started the workshop by preparing our handbag-shaped cake. We could choose from a large selection of flavors so that our filling could taste like pistachio, for example. Unfortunately, we occasionally had to wait because the cake needed to cool down, but by the end of the day, only the decoration was left to do. For dinner, Ms. Hartleben had made her homemade pumpkin soup for us.
On our last day, we decorated our cakes with pearls, glitter, and edible signs made from a special fondant printer. Since we still had some time left, we also decorated cake pops with various designs. After that, we said goodbye with a small gift as a thank you from Nadine and returned to the apartment to pack for the journey home the next day.
With a car full of cakes and baked goods, we finally started our journey home to Torgelow am See.
