Schloss Torgelow: School

Small classes

At most twelve students in a class

Good performance, solid knowledge, and the acquisition of important competencies hold an immutable value. Our educational goal is to prepare young people for a successful future, to provide them with guidance, and to spark their interest in lifelong learning.

More time for everyone

We show our students that learning is fun, answer their questions, spark their interest, demonstrate that effort leads to success, and that success motivates. The self-imposed limit of a maximum of 12 students in the class helps us cater to each individual and motivate them to give their best. Here, everyone receives the attention they deserve.

High school diploma after 12 school years

Since 1994, students in Torgelow have been able to obtain the state-recognized Abitur after 12 school years, which is fully acknowledged throughout Germany. Their outstanding results in the state-wide central Abitur are due to the focused and effective teaching and their personal commitment, which we expect. Talented students from federal states with G9 can even save an entire school year by transferring to Torgelow in good time.

In school and boarding school, students from Torgelow learn systematic work, solution-oriented thinking, and teamwork skills – qualities that form the foundation for a successful academic career or a solid vocational training.

Innovative teaching

The modern daily schedule follows the double period principle. It offers our teachers the opportunity to teach using modern, action-oriented methods.

Modern School

Modernly equipped specialized classrooms and a science laboratory, as well as spacious music and art rooms, provide excellent teaching conditions. Classroom without blackboards feature innovative display and computer technology. Students have been using the iPad as a teaching tool starting from 7th grade. Chalkboards are a thing of the past here. Teaching or work materials can be accessed and edited through the school’s internal digital platform. This makes the safe handling of media a matter of course.

Show more initiative

At Schloss Torgelow, students have the opportunity to work independently and incorporate their results into the lessons. In our small classes, regular presentations, lectures, and student-led contributions to the lessons are part of the norm. This way, our students learn to work scientifically at an early age and acquire the confidence that later distinguishes them as graduates of Schloss Torgelow.

Small classes enable individual support.

Teachers with commitment

A special school needs special teachers: committed, motivated, and ready to see their profession as a calling. Therefore, we carefully select our teachers at Schloss Torgelow. Each of them is highly qualified and ready to support our students individually.

For several years now, Schloss Torgelow has also been a seminar school of the state. This allows us to train talented young teachers as interns, who will later strengthen our team.

Homework

Our teachers value the importance of thorough preparation and follow-up of lessons. Therefore, completing homework has a fixed place in the daily schedule. In grades 5 to 8, homework is done during a study time supervised by the mentor within the class group. From grade 9 onwards, the best students have the opportunity to work independently and responsibly in their own rooms, while for the others, we offer a supervised homework time in the early evening.

School for Germany

Schloss Torgelow accepts students from the 5th grade onwards from all federal states and from abroad. Experience shows that differences in the subjects covered can be quickly balanced within the small class or through individual additional support. To create optimal conditions for a successful transition to the upper secondary level, we recommend an early transfer to Torgelow. Admission is also possible in the introductory class of the upper secondary level.

More feedback

Transparency of grades for parents and students is particularly important to us. Our students are therefore assessed in writing four times a year in each subject. Teachers in Torgelow not only give grades but also acknowledge the progress made in a verbal assessment and highlight areas for improvement. We send the assessments directly to students and parents via email. Additionally, regular parent-teacher meetings and direct contact with the teaching staff provide parents with the opportunity to stay constantly informed about their child’s development. Students actively participate in shaping the lessons. Breaks do not follow the traditional bell signal but are adjusted individually to the attention span of the class.
