Schloss Torgelow: Boarding School

Boarding school provides guidance

Children and adolescents need values and guidance

Not only a change in values, but also the loss of ideals shapes our society. At the boarding school Schloss Torgelow, we counter this development day by day with: humanity, tolerance, and social responsibility.

It is an important concern for us to instill a solid system of values in young people, enabling them to master their lives through their own efforts. The willingness to achieve good performance is just as important at the Schloss Torgelow boarding school as social engagement for others. We help our students discover who they are and who they want to be. We encourage them to believe in ideals and values they have recognized as right and good for themselves, which motivate them to embrace the challenges of the future.

Living in a strong community

Living together in a community of interested students opens up new perspectives for the individual and broadens their horizons. They learn teamwork, consideration for others, and taking on social responsibility in the group – skills that are essential for community life.

Our task as educators is not only to raise our students to be capable members of society, but also to accompany and support their development into successful human personalities, providing them with guidance and stimulation.

Children and teenagers receive attention and understanding, affection and advice. They must fight for their freedom while learning that there are binding rules for everyone. We consider a meaningful allocation of time and a balance of intellectual, artistic, and physical activities to be essential.

See the profession as a calling

In the Torgelower climate, children and adolescents feel comfortable. By climate, we also mean the human atmosphere. The students sense every day that the adults with whom they live and work enjoy being with them and that they find joy in their roles as teachers, mentors or trainers, workshop leaders, caretakers, or cooks in the boarding school. This basic mood ensures that everyone feels understood.

As mentors, older students take on responsibility for younger students or provide tutoring as repeaters. In the student parliament, when implementing social tier assignments, or as student assistants in the House of the Future, our students take responsibility for a strong community that distinguishes Schloss Torgelow.
