Clerkship
Schloss Torgelow is a seminar and training school of the Institute for Quality Development of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (IQ M-V). Trainee teachers can take the nationally recognized Second State Examination for teaching at secondary schools with us.
The duration of the traineeship is 18 months. The starting dates are February 1, April 1, August 1, and October 1 of the respective year. The training is primarily focused on practical teaching topics, particularly on the planning, execution, and reflection of lessons.
Your training team
The training of the trainee teachers at Schloss Torgelow is the responsibility of the program director, Ms. Annegret Schnepf. She, together with two subject mentors from the dedicated and motivated faculty, will take care of you. The Schloss Torgelow training team are your patient contacts and competent advisors.
Your training
The 18-month training includes observations, guided and independent teaching, comprehensive counseling, as well as the participation of all involved in the training in educational seminars led by your academic director.
You will receive additional support from IQ M-V. During your internship, you will be accompanied by two subject coordinators who will further educate you in subject-specific didactic and methodological seminars and advise you after classroom observations.

Referendariat +
Trainees receive a monthly stipend for the duration of their training relationship, equal to the prescribed trainee stipend of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This currently amounts to €1,749.08 gross per month.
In addition, Schloss Torgelow offers the Referendariat+ program. Trainees receive an additional payment of €1,000.00 per month. We would be happy to provide you with more information about our Referendariat+ program in person.
Your contact persons
The teaching visits
You will be regularly visited in class by your subject mentors, your program director, and your subject coordinators, and will subsequently receive comprehensive advice. The dates will be specifically arranged with you. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, there is no individual grading for classroom visits, but rather a final grade for the probation period at the end of the training period. The probation grade is determined by the training team at Schloss Torgelow.
Application
You can apply to us at any time. However, we are bound by the following reporting deadlines set by the state of M-V:
- Start of the preparatory service from February 1st from September 15th to November 15th.
- Start of the preparatory service from April 1st, from November 15th to January 15th.
- Start of the preparatory service from August 1, from March 15 to May 15.
- Start of the preparatory service from October 1st, from May 15th to July 15th.
The certificate of the First State Examination or a comparable qualification can be submitted up to one month before the start of the preparatory service.
Your examination for the Second State Examination
The overall result of the Second State Examination in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern consists of the following elements:
Probation report in the preparatory service
(Weighting 40%, grade will be awarded by the Schloss-Torgelow training team)
Extended Teaching Test
The date for the extended teaching examination is determined by the examination board and you in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
(Weighting 20%, grade is awarded by an examination board: program director, school management, subject head of the extended teaching demonstration)
Grades for the examination teaching samples in the respective subjects.
The date for the two examination teaching trials will be determined by you in coordination with the Schloss-Torgelow training team and IQ M-V. (Weighting 40%, grades will be awarded by an examination committee: Schloss-Torgelow training team and a representative of IQ M-V)
Reflection and self-assessment in the context of classroom observations and examinations are integral components of the training period and are specifically developed and professionalized by the Schloss-Torgelow training team.
An explicit oral examination is not provided for in the examination regulations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
