There are encounters that stay with you—and sometimes they are so extraordinary that it takes years to realize how special they really were. My favorite encounter? I met Santa Claus. And not only that: I even married him.

For 22 years, Mario Lehmann, owner of Schloss Torgelow, has been organizing the “House of Santa Claus” at the Heidelberg Christmas market together with the Lions Club Heidelberg Altstadt. Everything is done on a voluntary basis, with heart and soul, and all for social projects that benefit children and families. Thousands of shining eyes, countless little wishes, warm words, quiet moments – year after year, a place is created where the world becomes a little brighter for a moment.

When you see Mario in his red coat, you immediately understand why children confide all their secrets to him and adults believe in miracles again for a moment. I feel very lucky to have this special person by my side. And yes, I am incredibly happy to be married to Santa Claus.
