“Doing Good Challenge”: Christmas Tree Burning

The project “Doing Good Challenge” continually delights with its visits from our boarding school students to the Ecktannen nursing home in Waren. Yesterday, another special meeting took place that deeply moved all those present.

At the beginning of the New Year, the dedicated students organized a campfire together with the residents – a traditional Christmas tree burning that symbolically marks the start of a new year for many.

A highlight of the afternoon was the communal grilling of bread on a stick and sausages. The students supported the seniors with great patience and joy, ensuring that everyone enjoyed the treats. This led to informal conversations about the New Year, wishes for the upcoming year, and personal memories – an exchange that wonderfully connects the generations.

The regular visits of the “Doing Good Challenge” project are not only a enrichment for the seniors but also for the young helpers. The shared hours create a special connection that shows how important the dialogue between generations is – and how much joy it brings to spend time together.
