Only for optimists – the food truck project remains challenging
They say that good things take time – but how much time exactly? The food truck “Only for Optimists” is currently undergoing a lengthy renovation phase. The planned revival is increasingly becoming a challenge for the owner, who has no knowledge of technical matters, and its end is still uncertain.
Patience is required
The renovation of the food truck began with intensive sandblasting to free the interior from old paint layers, kitchen residues, and rust. Subsequently, all damaged sheets were removed. The now exposed frame structure had to be treated with a special rust protection and care oil. This oil penetrates deeply into the surfaces to stop rust formation and to create a base for the subsequent corrosion protection layers. However, one of the problems was that the drying process took a long time.
The long wait
The prolonged low temperatures of the past weeks have significantly delayed the drying process. Without complete curing, the next protective coating could not be applied. But the weather is slowly improving, and this step has now been completed. Now the body shop can focus on the reconstruction of the floor structure. A new auxiliary frame made of stainless steel profiles will be custom-made and welded into the existing chassis frame to create a stable base for the new floor made of plywood panels.
And then?
Then it continues with the interior construction and other important decisions? What exactly should it be able to do? Pizza? Burgers? Crêpes? Tacos? Cakes? Many question marks and still no final answer.
Long breath
Hopefully, the truck “Only for Optimists” will soon shine again in new glory. Currently, it looks more like a long-term construction site. When the food truck will actually hit the streets again remains uncertain. The motivation is there, but the many necessary repairs make it difficult.
