Virtual visit of the German ambassador to South Africa

The students of the 11th and 12th grades were allowed to welcome a special guest: Andreas Peschke, the German Ambassador to South Africa as well as to the Kingdoms of Lesotho and Eswatini, was virtually present at Schloss Torgelow.

In an engaging lecture, Mr. Peschke provided insights into his work, his professional development, and the diverse tasks of German diplomatic missions abroad. He vividly described what it means to represent Germany overseas – in dialogue with the South African government, in maintaining economic relations, or in cultural mediation.

But it was not just about political issues: Personal experiences and insights into the daily life of a diplomat in an international environment were also conveyed openly and vividly.

A special highlight was the subsequent question and answer session: With great interest and insightful questions, the students took the opportunity to engage in discussion – whether about diplomatic everyday life, current political challenges, or the personal motivation of the ambassador. The openness of his answers left a lasting impression.

The visit was not only an exciting insight into a fascinating professional field but also encouraged reflection on global connections, international cooperation, and personal future perspectives.

A heartfelt thank you to Ambassador Andreas Peschke for his time, his openness – and the inspiration he brought with his virtual visit to Torgelow am See.
