Schloss Torgelow: School
Study and Career Orientation
More orientation – More focus – More future
Orientation
From fifth to twelfth grade, our students learn about various fields of study and professions through lectures, excursions, and company visits.
Starting from the eighth grade, students can gain initial study experiences as part of the Junior Studies program at the University of Rostock and earn initial credits for different fields of study.
In the tenth grade, our students complete an internship and can gain practical experience in various professional fields. In a written assignment, they have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and inform their classmates in presentations about the challenges and opportunities of the internship.
Starting from the eleventh grade, students have the opportunity, in addition to their classes, to choose from a wide range of study and career preparation project offerings, in order to make informed decisions for their future with our support.
Focus: Teaching and Project Program
In the subject “Career Orientation,” students take mandatory instructional modules on topics such as “Paths after Graduation,” “Paths to University,” “Current Job Market,” and “Creating Applications – Mastering Interviews and Selection Processes.”
An additional project block focuses on the opportunities to study abroad or potentially work there in the future. Here, we offer a comprehensive program in collaboration with external consultants that helps students orient themselves, make decisions, and apply.
Furthermore, the students have the opportunity to qualify particularly for a field of study through various workshops. Here, we regularly offer seminars in business administration, law, medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, or rhetoric.
Career Day
Every two years, we hold a “Career Day” at Schloss Torgelow. On this day, we provide a platform for private and public universities to introduce themselves and their degree programs. In collaboration with the universities and experienced practitioners, Torgelow students gain detailed insights into the content of the key degree programs and the tasks and requirements of individual professions.
In addition to the professional preparation, we focus on the personal development of our students. They receive support in the areas of presentation techniques, time and study management, as well as effective communication, and are specifically prepared for selection interviews at universities with the help of experts.
Schloss Torgelow on the way
As part of the study and career orientation, our students have the opportunity to be on the move. They visit job fairs and information days at universities and universities of applied sciences. Simon Ruppel, responsible for the area of study and career orientation, informs the students about current events through our digital message board.
Due to our extensive network of parents and alumni, our students have the opportunity to easily gain insights into various professions and companies, allowing them to weigh their options for which career path to pursue after graduation.
More Future: Role Models from Practice
During the school year and as part of Career Day, we regularly invite “practitioners” to come to us. They explain their job profiles to the students, clarify what requirements are placed on them, and provide suggestions and tips.
In the film series “Kirsten Meets,” we introduce former students of Schloss Torgelow in their current professional environment. The short road movies provide the students with many ideas. The alumni serve as “role models” to show which paths are available to future graduates after a successful completion.
