Former students of the boarding school: Kirsten meets – Episode 8

Life can be so beautiful. And it is especially beautiful when you are entrusted with a task that brings joy, promises fun, moves you to tears, and you have the chance to visit impressive personalities in their professional environment.

I, Kirsten Lehmann, have the privilege of meeting former graduates of Schloss Torgelow in the film series “Kirsten Meets…” and visiting them in their current lives.

What I experienced during my visits, what I learned about the different career paths of the former students, their goals, and their time at Schloss Torgelow, has been captured on camera by Jens Lange from “flamencofilm.” The resulting films are multifaceted, very personal, full of life, a bit “sentimental,” and there are one or two challenges for me to master.

Definitely check it out, mark it down, and celebrate with me. Have fun!

Episode 8: Kirsten meets…..Martin Marsch, a farmer in Klein Toitin near Jarmen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A country outing.

Martin graduated from high school at Schloss Torgelow in 2005. He then completed an apprenticeship as a farmer in Schleswig-Holstein and subsequently studied agricultural sciences in Göttingen. In 2011, Martin went “home” and took on more and more responsibility in the family arable farming business. Today, he manages the DLK Toitin/Neetzow OHG together with his wife Juliane. Together with his team, he cultivates about 2000 hectares of land. Even during his time at the boarding school in Schloss Torgelow, Martin worked on the farm – instead of summer vacations, he spent his time driving tractors and harvesting.

I was allowed to visit Martin and his family for a day on their farm in Klein Toitin near Jarmen. A film has been created about Martin, about modern agriculture, about performance and responsibility, about the origins of our food, about family, about goals, about nature and resources, about friendship, and about the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Dear Martin, thank you very much for a day full of new impressions and experiences. It was a great honor to be a guest at your breakfast table and to experience you as a loving family man, a responsible farmer, and a dedicated and down-to-earth boss. It was exciting to see how agriculture has changed. It was impressive to explore together with you how the products we eat daily are produced. It was thrilling to drive a tractor and feel the vastness of the land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It was heartwarming to meet your wife and your three children.

Dear Martin, dear Juliane, thank you very much for your hospitality and for the wonderful feeling of being welcome. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your home. Waking up early was worth it.

Episode 9: It’s Christmas time! Kirsten meets… Berta Luise Heide in Berlin. Berta is an author and blogger. She publishes, among other things, wonderful mini pocket guides: BertaBerlin. On her travel blog www.walk-this-way.net/blog/, you can also find exciting insider tips about Berlin and many other cities.
