Marcus graduated from high school at Schloss Torgelow in 1997, making him one of the first graduates of the boarding school. He then went to America and completed a one-year internship at “Volkswagen of America.” After returning to Germany, Marcus studied industrial design in Munich. Following his diploma with a focus on “Transportation Design,” he gained experience in exterior design at Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg. Since 2010, he has been the managing director of HOTE GmbH in Beilngries. In addition to managing the family business, the product design studio, Marcus founded ELEGEND AG.

ELEGEND AG stands for vehicles that capture the myth of the rally legends of the 1980s and combine it with state-of-the-art E-technology. The first handcrafted car, the EL1, will only be produced 30 times in total. Marcus has made his dream come true: to design his own car and bring it to the road in 2022.

I had the opportunity to visit and get to know Marcus at HOTE Design in the beautiful Beilngries in Bavaria.

Marcus, thank you so much for welcoming me so warmly. I felt very welcomed and cared for at HOTE. It was more than impressive to get a behind-the-scenes look at the studio and to see how much competence, know-how, attention to detail, and experience goes into the production of the models. My day with you was full of exciting experiences and encounters. It was a pleasure to talk with you about design, cars, technology, life, and your time at Schloss Torgelow. I will cherish my visit with you, your warmth, your expertise, your hospitality, and the strong HOTE team by your side as a memory like a treasure. And I sincerely hope there will be a test drive of the EL1 to Torgelow am See.
