Christina completed her Abitur in 1998 as an external student at Schloss Torgelow. After studying business administration at the University of Rostock, she worked and earned her doctorate at the Chair of Economic and Organizational Psychology, and then gained experience in the industry. In 2011, Christina joined the family business “Mecklenburger Backstuben” as managing director. She is responsible for the branch business, marketing, and communication, and runs “Mecklenburger Backstuben” together with her parents and sister. For 30 years, the company has supplied its 47 bakery cafés and stores, wholesale customers, and both German and international partners with fresh and frozen baked goods. The large bakery, with just over 500 employees, is one of the largest employers in the Müritz region.

I had the opportunity to visit Christina on a beautiful late summer day in September 2020 at the company headquarters in Waren on the Müritz and take a look behind the scenes of the production. The applicable distance and hygiene regulations were observed.

Dear Christina, thank you very much for a very special, emotional, and deeply impressive day. Thank you for allowing me to visit you during this challenging time. I could feel how much heart, fighting spirit, and courage you and your family put into running the “Mecklenburg Bakeries.” It was a great honor for me to immerse myself in your business and witness the craftsmanship with which your baked goods are produced. In every department, it was evident how much appreciation and competence the team works with. I would like to specifically thank the many colleagues in production who were so kind and helpful to me.

Christina, it was a special joy for me to meet you. My day with you was characterized by openness, trust, connection, and friendship. The time spent with you and your team will remain in my memory for a very long time. I thank you for allowing me to witness how clearly, competently, warmly, strongly, and thoughtfully you lead the Mecklenburger bakeries. And I know that this is particularly a great responsibility and challenge, especially during the Corona crisis. I admire you and am proud that you attended Schloss Torgelow as a student. And I am grateful for your friendship.

P.S.: Tobi, Christina’s husband, also graduated from high school at Schloss Torgelow in 1998.
