Tomas completed his Abitur in 2005 at Schloss Torgelow, then underwent training as an emergency medical technician in Berlin Neukölln, and later studied medicine in Budapest, Homburg/Saar, Ulm, and Berlin. He completed his residency training at the Schlosspark-Klinik in Berlin. Today, he works as an ophthalmologist and surgeon in the ophthalmology practice at Savignyplatz in Berlin Charlottenburg.

I had the opportunity to visit Tomas there and accompany him during an eye surgery with my camera. Afterwards, Tomas examined my eyes and showed me the great practice rooms. My challenge was a big challenge for me: I basically stepped into the role of the operator. How I performed in this area can be seen in the Kirsten meets… episode.

During our meeting, Tomas and I talked about his dream of becoming a doctor, about his path to fulfilling this career wish, about determination, about dedication, about the opportunity to help people, and about his time at Schloss Torgelow.

Tomas, it was a very special day at your practice. Your competence, your clarity, your courage, and your determination were felt every second. I felt very welcome, very secure, and very comfortable.

Thank you very much for allowing me to accompany you during an operation. I was deeply touched to witness the trust you enjoy from your patients and how great their gratitude for your help is. Thank you for letting me spend a whole day with you. Your loving manner, your warm-hearted humor, your great empathy, and your joy of reunion felt like a warm blanket being wrapped around me.

Tomas, you were in my exam class 20 years ago. Back then, one could already sense your fine character and big heart. Now, it makes me incredibly proud that you have fulfilled your dream of becoming a doctor through hard work and high personal commitment. You are a role model – both as a person and as a doctor. Thank you.
