Boarding School Schloss Torgelow on the move: seals, kayaking adventures, and tons of fun—our class trip to Warnemünde
After months of eager anticipation, the time had finally come: the fifth grade set off for Warnemünde. Even the train journey itself was exciting—with snacks, laughter, and plenty of luggage.
Day 1 – Seal alert and a test of courage in the sea
After checking into the youth hostel, the first major challenge began—making the beds. While Mr. and Mrs. Seidelmann explained how to “pull the sheet tight,” we wrestled with duvets that seemed to have a life of their own, but at least no one ended up sleeping on a bare mattress.
After a short break, we took the ferry to the seal station, and even the crossing was exciting. At the station, we were welcomed by real seal stars that jumped, clapped, and looked so clever that we almost thought they might start teaching us math.
On the way back, we walked along the beach in the sunshine, feeling like little adventurers. After dinner, there was a ball tournament on the beach—and then the highlight: a few brave girls actually jumped into the 14-degree Baltic Sea. Respect!
Day 2 – Animals, knowledge, and Darwin live
The next day, the Rostock Zoo was on the agenda, including an exciting guided tour of the Darwineum. Amid monkey calls and turtle philosophy, we learned how life on Earth has evolved.
Day 3 – Shopping, döner, and kayaking adventures
Finally, a trip to the big city of Rostock. During the shopping tour, souvenirs, stuffed animals, and of course plenty of sweets were snapped up. Lunch was a complete success—döner, pizza, or hamburgers. Afterwards, we set off to explore the city in a very different way: by kayak. From the water, Rostock looked twice as beautiful. Our guide shared lots of stories about history and architecture, and some of us even impressed with our knowledge. Mr. and Mrs. Seidelmann were visibly impressed.
Day 4 – Activity and a cinema visit
The fourth day was all about movement. At “Flip and Fly,” a huge trampoline and sports hall, we jumped, ran, and laughed until everyone was exhausted. In the afternoon, a trip to the cinema was on the schedule. We watched The Bad Guys 2, a film full of action, chaos, and funny animals on a criminal chase, which most of us thought was really cool. Afterwards, it was time to tidy up our rooms and pack our bags—but not without a quick dash to the beach first. Playing in the sand—perfect!
Day 5 – Journey home with a backpack drama
On Friday, everything went smoothly—until, during the final transfer, someone suddenly shouted, “My backpack is gone!” A moment of shock! But the Rostock public transport company reacted at lightning speed, and the backpack soon found its way back to its owner.
It was a fantastic class trip—full of fun, learning, and unforgettable moments. The youth hostel was great, the food delicious, the weather beautiful, and the sea ice-cold.
