Our school champion Benedict at the regional round of the reading competition
Benedict, a student in class 6b, had emerged as the best reader among our 6th graders in an exciting finale of the reading competition in December 2024. Now he was allowed to compete against the best readers from the Müritz district in the regional finals at the city library of Waren.
First, just like at the school competition, the task was to read an excerpt from a self-chosen book. Benedict had, of course, prepared perfectly for this. With his presentation from the book “Heroes of Olympus 4: The House of Hades” by Rick Riordan, he impressed not only the jury but also all the listeners who had come to the city library that afternoon.
In the second round, an excerpt was read from a book that was unknown to the readers. The jury had selected the book “Queen of the Diving Tower” by Martina Wildner. Benedict handled this challenge superbly as well. The jury, which then retreated to discuss, certainly had a difficult task. It took them quite a while to make a decision.
In the end, the jury chose another young reader as the winner, but today we made it known to Benedict at the school assembly with deafening applause: He is and will always be our number 1!
