Kirsten meets….. Dr. Malte Buchholz

A visit to Hamburg that was deeply moving.

Some encounters feel familiar right away and stay in the heart for a long time. My day in the Hamburg practice of Dr. Malte Buchholz was just such a moment. Malte is part of the 2004 high school graduating class at Schloss Torgelow and is now a self-employed orthopedic surgeon in Hamburg Nienstedten. Even upon entering his practice, you can feel how much he cares about the person behind the medical question.

From Torgelow to Prague and back to the North.

After his school years at Schloss Torgelow, Malte studied medicine at Charles University in Prague from 2005 to 2011. He then continued his training in orthopedics and trauma surgery in Hamburg and in Winsen Luhe. Since 2020, he has been running his own practice in Hamburg Nienstedten. There, he combines modern medicine with a very personal perspective on his patients.

A day of shooting full of trust

The filming of our new episode was a special experience for me. Not only because we had a wonderful conversation, but also because Malte took a lot of time for me and my concerns. I received many injections that day, and although I had some apprehension about it, I felt much better afterward.

What impressed me particularly was Malte’s way of working. His competence, politeness, appreciation, kindness, and attentiveness are exceptional. You feel taken seriously, well cared for, and honestly seen by him. Malte is one of those doctors whom you immediately trust.

A matter close to the heart for young people

With the release of this episode, we took some time. Because we really wanted to realize a joint project at Schloss Torgelow. Malte’s family has been committed for many years to educating children and teenagers about cardiac arrests, first aid, and quick life-saving measures. Through the Heart Rescuers initiative, children are taught how they can help in an emergency. Bringing this project to Schloss Torgelow is still on our list. The implementation is not entirely straightforward, but we will definitely keep at it.

A reunion full of warmth

The day in Hamburg was a gift for me. Malte is impressive professionally and even more so as a person. In our film, it becomes clear how much he loves his profession and how deeply he connects with his patients.

Dear Malte, thank you for allowing me to visit you in your practice in Nienstedten. Thank you for your time, your patience, your warmth, and all the treatments that made me feel a little better each time. It was nice to see you again.
