Double victory at “YOUTH STARTS 2024/2025”
In the nationwide student competition YOUTH CREATES 2024/2025 The students of the tenth grade at the Private Boarding School Schloss Torgelow have impressively shown what they are capable of: Eight out of eleven teams secured top-10 positions in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – and two teams achieved 1st and 2nd place in the state ranking. This is a remarkable success in a competition with nearly 5,000 registered teams nationwide.
Double victory and eight top ten places
The best ten teams in the country this year mostly come from the Schloss Torgelow boarding school – only places 5 and 9 went to a school in Rostock. The winning team “Switch & Shine” developed an innovative idea for magnetic ear jewelry, where the plug remains in the ear and the attachments can be changed hygienically and in seconds. The second-place team (also from Schloss Torgelow) developed a “Fridginator” from a recycled old device, which captures and sorts food, reminds users just before it expires, and suggests recipes based on that.
In the national comparison, the Torgelow teams achieved remarkable successes: Among almost 2,000 business plans evaluated nationwide, “Switch & Shine” and “Mack’s” secured excellent places 53 and 66, making them some of the most successful teams in Germany.
Strong girls’ teams
During a ceremonial honor at the Ministry of Education of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the students were personally awarded by Minister of Education Simone Oldenburg. The minister not only highlighted the economic maturity of the projects but also acknowledged the strong commitment of girls in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation. “Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is leading by a good example here,” emphasized Oldenburg.
The success is the result of dedicated teamwork in economics classes and an intensive project phase under the leadership of Mrs. Bolle and Mrs. Petri. The students were also supported by state coordinator Mr. Rose, who closely accompanied the teams during the business plan development phase.
