Torgelow News
The first boarding school weekend starts with Takeshi’s Castle.
On the first weekend of the school year, traditionally all students stay at the boarding school. Everyone should have the opportunity to get to know each other and become part of the boarding community. A classic game during this time is “Takeshi’s Castle.” All kids and teenagers have to prove themselves in various rounds of the game. It’s about speed, accuracy, skill, and of course, you also need a bit of luck.
In the first game, the sports field of the boarding school was transformed into a large memory game. Afterwards, precision throwing was required. In the “traces of slime,” the students battled a slippery slide and were then challenged by the “cruel measuring tape.” Gradually, the ranks thinned. While swinging over the pond and climbing along the exhausting traverse over the jetty at Lake Torgelow, more students had to admit defeat to Takeshi and his supporters.
In the final game, a parkour on the sports field in front of the House of the Future, three students and one female student faced off against three mentors and one female mentor. Even after the stilt walking, the sensation was hinted at: a victory for the mentors, and thus for Takeshi, seemed more and more likely. However, the students fought back, and finally, the mini-golf station became the deciding game: Mr. Kotte and Ferdinand both holed the ball at the same time. When climbing up the tower, Mr. Kotte had a slight lead and was able to secure the treasure for Takeshi.
Afterwards, all the students quickly changed and enjoyed a three-course meal in the beautifully decorated cafeteria, prepared by Mr. Heeg and his kitchen team. After the meal, Tristan and Tim served as DJs, creating a good atmosphere during the lounge and disco evening.
Saturday was all about mentorship. Here, activities such as paddling, hiking, water skiing, eating pizza, and much more were enjoyed together by residential groups. The focus of the activities was once again on teamwork. Accordingly, on Sunday, team games took place, and team projects were also held.
Overall, a cool, exciting, and varied weekend at the boarding school. We are looking forward to the upcoming “IWOs.”
