Sound barrier broken

On June 14 and 15, 2025, the state championships of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in athletics took place in Rostock. Three members of the athletics team project had qualified for these championships and were able to achieve personal bests in each discipline.

Kacy Fee Dieffenbacher achieved 1.35m in the high jump, securing 5th place.

Luna Brandstetter finished in 4th place in the 300m hurdles.

Particularly successful was Willi Schmidt, who competed in the MJ U18 age group in the 100m and 200m sprints as well as in the long jump. He achieved personal bests in all disciplines and became state champion three times. This made Willi the most successful competitor of the championships. In the sprint disciplines, Willi ran 11.23 seconds in the 100m and 22.04 seconds in the 200m, which placed him in the German top 10 rankings for both events in 2025. However, his most valuable performance came in the long jump, where he broke the 7m mark for the first time with a jump of 7.03m, breaking a sound barrier. With this performance, Willi qualified for the German Championships in early July in Bochum-Wattenscheid.

We sincerely congratulate you and wish you much success in the upcoming competitions.
