Former students of the boarding school: Kirsten meets – Episode 20
Christiane was only 15 years old when she graduated from high school at Schloss Torgelow in 2003. Despite skipping grades, Christiane was very frustrated with the school system and found an educational environment in Torgelow by the lake where she felt more at home and understood. Already in Munich, Christiane discovered memory sports for herself. This led to her first win at the Youth Memory World Championship in 1999 – four more world championship titles followed.
After graduating from high school, Christiane studied political science and wrote her first bestseller, “Why Does the Sheep Fall from the Tree?”, a memory training book for children. In 2005, she founded her own company, “Keep in Mind,” and has since been conducting seminars and workshops on the subject of memory training.
In 2013, Christiane began her musical training at the Stage School Hamburg and co-hosted the show “Wie werd’ ich …?” on ZDFneo with Lutz van der Horst. In 2016, she took over as co-host of the ZDF show “Deutschlands Superhirn.” Since 2019, she has been co-hosting the philosophical Audible podcast “Sag niemals Nietzsche” with Samira El Ouassil. Her new podcast is called “Hallo Hoffnung.” In 2021, her sixth book “Lassen Sie Ihre Zeit nicht unbeaufsichtigt! Wie das Gehirn unsere Zukunft formt” was published, which also became a Spiegel bestseller.
In addition to her professional projects, Christiane takes time for the “10drei” project. The association aims to promote a better understanding of fundamental rights in schools and is one of the startsocial scholarship holders for 2021/2022 under the patronage of the former Chancellor. Christiane is passionate about the sustainable use of our resources and has much planned ahead.
I had the opportunity to visit Christiane for a day in Munich and talk with her about the topic of memory training, about her books, about politics, about the 10drei association, about life, about school, about Schloss Torgelow, and about her future plans.
Christiane, it was a special joy for me to meet you. I had the chance to attend a “mini-memory training seminar” with you and experience you as a teacher. It deeply touched me to undergo this role and perspective shift with your competent, empathetic, and humorous support: at Schloss Torgelow, I was your teacher, and today you are mine.
In addition to the memory techniques, I have gained a lot of strength and spirit from the intensive conversations with you. Observing and experiencing how you use your diverse talents, your interests, your political engagement, your zest for life, your wisdom, and your open-mindedness to inspire others has greatly impressed me.
Dear Christiane, my day with you and the experience of your intelligence, your mindfulness, your sovereignty, and your strength stay with me to this day. I am impressed by your courage, your sense of responsibility, and your attitude. Thank you for allowing me to participate in it a little.
