Tino graduated from high school at Schloss Torgelow in 2006, then completed his civil service at the internet café/youth club in Waren, and later obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in Stralsund.

After that, Tino went to Steinbeis University Berlin/Filderstadt for a dual study program “Master of Business Engineering (MBE),” with stays in the USA, South Korea, Japan, and Sweden. His employer from 2011 to 2018 was Spitzke Fahrwegsysteme GmbH. Subsequently, Tino moved to Mecklenburger Metallguss GmbH (MMG) in Waren at the Müritz. Since the end of 2018, he has been working in the area of sales and product development.

“MMG” is a hidden champion and has been a specialist in ship propellers for 150 years. The foundry on the Mecklenburg Lake District designs and manufactures fixed and variable pitch propellers weighing up to 160 tons and with a diameter of up to 11.6 meters for container ships, tankers, bulk carriers, supply vessels, military ships, and cruise ships. In 2020, a center for additive manufacturing was added with an XXL printer for model production and an automated welding robot for “rapid prototyping.”

I had the opportunity to visit Tino in Waren an der Müritz at MMG and watch him cast a large ship propeller. Afterwards, Tino showed me the impressive manufacturing halls and the propellers that were already finished. It got really exciting during my challenge: I was allowed to cast a Torgelow shield together with Tino’s colleagues.

During our meeting, Tino and I talked about his journey back to the Mecklenburg Lake District, the feeling of being “at home,” traditions and challenges, the strength of team spirit, determination and motivation, and his time at Schloss Torgelow.

Tino, it was an unforgettable day! Thank you for taking me to the propeller manufacturing and allowing me to cast something myself. Thank you for your trust, your appreciation, and the incredibly lovingly designed day. Thank you for letting me experience you among your colleagues. Thank you for your competence, your calmness and balance, and for your humor and friendship.

I felt incredibly comfortable and taken care of both at MMG and with you. I was able to witness how you have matured from a rather reserved boy, whom I had in class, into an open, confident, and clear leader who stands firmly on Mecklenburg soil. It was touching and emotional – what a gift. Thank you.
