Internat Schloss Torgelow on the road: Seventh grade field trip; On an adventure!
A week full of courage, fun, and team spirit: The classes 7a and 7b experienced exciting days in nature at Camp Adventure near Walsrode – with archery, climbing, raft building, evenings by the campfire, and a lot of shared adventurous spirit.
Every adventure begins with a first step – or with an adventurous bus ride, during which we, the 7a and 7b classes, had to tackle the first challenges, like bridges that were far too narrow. Cheers to our bus driver! Our destination was Camp Adventure near Walsrode. Nestled in beautiful nature, we were greeted there not only by our accommodation, which truly lived up to its name, but also by our team leaders, who accompanied us throughout the week and introduced us to the secrets of adventure.
On the first day, we learned the art of making fire – of course without a lighter or matches. Admittedly, it probably takes a bit more practice for a proper campfire, but the fun was definitely not lacking.
The next morning, we started off actively with a small soccer tournament that brought everyone together. In the spirit of the Olympic thought “It’s not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game,” not only the professionals were able to showcase their skills, but there were also some extremely creative and, let’s say, unforgettable plays to admire.
In archery and the subsequent “Archery Attack,” not only precision but also strategy, skill, and teamwork were required. These skills also helped us in further adventures: building a raft, a shelter, and even a catapult. We quickly realized that there are often many paths to the goal – and that sometimes the journey itself can be the goal.
“There is no ‘I’ in team.”
Together we mastered tasks, learned to listen to each other, to be considerate, and to trust one another. This was especially important during climbing, as courage and overcoming challenges alone were not enough; trust was crucial. By the way, we also practiced English, as it was the everyday language in the camp.
A special highlight was the evening events – especially the disco, where the dance floor literally buzzed. Together with another school from Berlin, we danced, laughed, and made new acquaintances.
Overall, we look back on a week full of small and large adventures, on many shared experiences that not only brought us joy but also brought us closer together as a class community.
