Team project athletics at the indoor state championships

Willi, a 10th-grade student at Schloss Torgelow and a member of the athletics team project, had set high goals for himself at the indoor state championships of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Neubrandenburg.

Last Saturday (January 18, 2025), Willi competed in the U18 age category (for 16 and 17-year-olds) in the long jump as well as in the 60m and 200m sprints.

Right from the start, he made it very exciting. After two invalid attempts in the long jump, he was close to being eliminated, but thanks to his mental strength and confidence in his abilities, he secured a spot in the final with a jump of 6.38m, where he then achieved a remarkable new personal best of 6.53m on his last attempt, confidently winning the gold medal.

Willi solidified this very good performance by achieving a new personal best of 7.38 seconds over 60m, placing 5th. He then won the bronze medal in the 200m with a time of 23.57 seconds.

Alongside Willi, Kacy competed in the girls’ category for ages 13 in the 60m hurdles, but just missed out on the final and finished in 9th place.

The students Ada and Maria contributed their expertise as judges during the event once again after successfully completing their judging training, so that in the end the organizer personally thanked them for their responsible work.
