Crocheting for wildlife conservation – Participation in “ZooMasche” of the Rostock Zoo
The boarding school Schloss Torgelow has enthusiastically participated in the initiative “Our New Zoo Masche – Crocheting for Diversity” of the Rostock Zoo. The goal of this creative project is to raise awareness of the protection of marine ecosystems by crocheting animals and corals and to support the international conservation organization SECORE International.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Franke, our principal, who herself took up the crochet hook, students and teachers engaged in this initiative. Together, they created crocheted sea creatures that not only fostered our creativity but also sent a strong message for environmental protection.
The collected works of art have been handed over to the Rostock Zoo and are part of an impressive exhibition that can be seen at the Zoo’s Atelier Natur until May 22, 2025. For each submitted crochet work, the Rostock Zoo donates one euro to SECORE International to support their important work in the restoration and conservation of coral reefs.
