The 64th state round took place on February 21 and 22, 2025. <\/i>Mathematics Olympiad<\/i><\/a> It took place throughout Germany. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 194 math talents demonstrated their skills \u2013 including Vivianne, Thomas, Lisa, and Kewen from the boarding school Gymnasium Schloss Torgelow, who concentrated fully while solving problems in Rostock. <\/i><\/p>\n\n

The Mathematics Olympiad is a nationwide competition in which around 200,000 students participate each year. The Olympiad is primarily about the joy of the challenge and the interaction with other math enthusiasts, in line with the Olympic motto “It’s not the winning that matters, it’s the taking part.” The Olympiad consists of several rounds, with the difficulty increasing from round to round, culminating in the national round for the best math whizzes from grade 8 onwards. <\/p>\n\n

Simone Oldenburg, the Minister of Education of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, praised the participants: “Everyone who made it to the state round can be proud of themselves!” A total of 1,800 math talents participated in the regional round throughout Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. “The competitions are an important part of talent promotion. They help children and adolescents to further develop their abilities,” the Minister of Education added. The Schloss Torgelow boarding school was represented in the state round by four students. <\/p>\n\n

After hours of calculation, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving strategies, the best were honored. A great success for our school: Kewen (10th grade) won 1st prize! Hopefully, Kewen will continue on to the national round. We\u2019re keeping our fingers crossed for her. <\/p>\n\n
