Six weekends during the school year are jointly designed as eventful boarding school weekends. These highlights of boarding school life feature cultural events, sports competitions, and creative projects. Away from daily school life, students, teachers, and mentors create a foundation for mutual understanding through shared activities. ## Return home for the weekend All other weekends are home travel weekends. Those who want to go home can be taken by the shuttle bus to Berlin or Hamburg on Friday and picked up there again on Sunday evening. From Berlin Airport, there are flight connections to Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, and Stuttgart with Lufthansa or Eurowings. Even students from southern Germany can easily travel home this way. Teachers and mentors offer them a varied weekend program. Cinema, canoe trips, bike tours, cultural events, sports activities … anything that is fun is on the agenda. Siblings and friends are warmly invited to spend the weekend in Torgelow after consultation. Schloss Torgelow, in contrast to many other boarding schools, allows the option to go home on weekends. This applies to all weekends, except for six boarding school weekends (IWOs). On an IWO, all boarding school students stay in the boarding school. Our day students are also invited to spend the night at the IWOs in the boarding school and be part of the boarding community. The IWOs are experienced communities – with numerous highlights: festive dinners, disco nights, excursions, mentoring activities, team projects, and special events like “Takeshi’s Castle” are on the agenda. The IWOs in November and May coincide with a parent-teacher conference, during which parents visit us at Schloss Torgelow and have the opportunity to speak individually with the teachers. Students will decide on Wednesday whether they want to stay at the boarding school or go home. Those who cannot go home over the weekend are still not alone, as an average of about 40 to 50 students stay at the boarding school on weekends and participate in our diverse program. On the weekend, we are making it nice for ourselves. Our mentors are organizing a varied program: a joint dinner on Friday, cinema visits, excursions on Saturday, sports and games, and much more provide variety and community. Schloss Torgelow offers two bus lines that connect the boarding school to the major cities of Berlin and Hamburg on weekends. Additionally, students have the option to take the train from Waren at the Müritz (9 km from the boarding school) to Berlin or Rostock. From Berlin Central Station, there are good connections to Hanover, Dortmund, Leipzig, and Dresden. From Hamburg Central Station, the major cities in the northwestern part of the country are very easily accessible. Yes. Students coming to us from Munich, Stuttgart, or Zurich also use the train and can travel directly to the airport or must transfer to the Airport Express (FEX) in Berlin Gesundbrunnen. In both cases, it is only five stops to Berlin Airport BER with the IC (Neustrelitz – Oranienburg – Gesundbrunnen (possible transfer to FEX) – Ostkreuz – Berlin Airport BER).
