Team competition dragon boat – An exciting conclusion to the school year
Throughout the school year, various games were played for the team competition to win the boarding school victory. Now, the traditional dragon boat race was scheduled for the conclusion.
In this year’s dragon boat team competition, our six school teams competed against each other: Tigers, Lions, Foxes, Wolves, Eagles, and Phoenix. The teams were drawn randomly and faced off one-on-one. Each team completed two races, once with our boat and once with a rental boat. The times of both runs were added together to determine the fastest team.
The final was particularly exciting, as it was the last team game of the school year. Three teams, Lions, Foxes, and Eagles, still had the chance to win the overall victory for the school year. The Eagles faced a great challenge; they needed to position themselves at the top of the ranking, as they were in third place in the overall standings.
But thanks to the strong leadership and wise coaching of Lucas, the Eagles managed to complete both races with top times. The Eagles finished the two races in a total time of 1 minute 44.4 seconds, which not only earned them victory in the team competition but also secured the overall victory of the school year for the first time since the introduction of team games. This marked the end of the impressive winning streak of the Foxes, who had claimed the overall victory in the previous two school years.
This great success means that Lucas, together with selected team members, will go to the Champions League of team games. This will take place next school year at the Kurpfalz boarding school. There, the Eagles will compete against the winning team of the Kurpfalz boarding school and fight for victory.
The Lions took 4th place in the dragon boat competition with a time of 1 minute and 48.1 seconds, finishing the school year in second place. The Foxes secured 3rd place in the dragon boat with a time of 1 minute and 47.2 seconds, achieving the second 3rd place in the overall rankings.
We look back on a fantastic school year filled with exciting team games and are very proud of all the students who fought so hard for their team, whether it was in mental math, the biathlon in Obertauern, Takeshi’s Castle, or dragon boat racing.
And are convinced that the Eagles, with their sharp wit, composure, and skill, will be a strong competitor for the Kurpfalz boarding school and will give their all to win the title for Schloss Torgelow again in the next school year.
