They need spaces and times where they can relax. Therefore, sports, crafts, and entertainment hold a high value at Schloss Torgelow. ### Tangible counterweights to mental labor Every week, we therefore offer more than 80 extracurricular projects in the afternoon and evening, giving our students the opportunity to discover their individual inclinations and talents. Not far from the Müritz – the largest inland lake in Germany – and directly at Lake Torgelow, unique water sports opportunities are available. Swimming, sailing, surfing, fishing, rowing, and canoeing are simply part of life for the people of Torgelow. Anyone interested can obtain their sailing or sports boat license with us. The Torgelower dragon boat team is one of the most successful student teams in Germany. ### Sports hold a high status at Schloss Torgelow But even on land, the sports program leaves nothing to be desired. The newly built stadium with artificial turf and a track, the small field sports area, the tennis court, as well as the large sports hall and the dance studio with mirrored walls offer diverse opportunities. In football, basketball, and volleyball, one learns what it means to think of others and to be strong together. Endurance sports and conditioning training in our modern gym are an important balance for many. For participants in the golf project, the indoor golf simulator also offers the opportunity to continue training in winter. Aerobics, athletics, and rowing complete the sports program. Modern computer equipment with a direct internet connection, a video workshop, and a sound studio offer technically inclined students a variety of options for multimedia design. Here, they acquire the know-how for creating websites, learn user programs and programming languages. The woodworking shop invites students to engage creatively and work hands-on. ### Set your own priorities. Our goal is to create such a diverse range of project offerings that everyone has the opportunity to focus on areas according to their age and interests. Particularly popular among younger people are the care of animals in the small animal zoo, creative projects such as glass shard magic or painting and drawing, tinkering and crafting, and acquiring a fishing license in the fishing project. The older students prepare for their studies in projects such as rhetoric, business administration, business English, debate club, literature, relaxation exercises, computer animated design, time management, career finding, or memory training. Despite school and the rich variety of project offerings, the daily schedule allows time to recover from the diverse impressions of the day. Meeting friends, visiting the disco in the Yellow House, and going to the boarding school cinema are all part of it, as well as regular barbecues, parties, and excursions that make the time at Schloss Torgelow simply unforgettable. Any training, no matter how qualified, becomes futile if it loses sight of the aspect of human interaction. ### Think and act as a team At Schloss Torgelow, we want to empower our students to take responsibility for others. They should recognize that collaboration in a group, teamwork in a team, or working on a common project offers opportunities and possibilities that an individual would not have. To strengthen the team spirit, we offer cross-class team projects starting from the 9th grade. Here, young people from different grade levels with similar interests can work together towards a common goal. You are part of a sports team in sailing, judo, soccer, tennis, horseback riding, golf, triathlon, or athletics, implement applied biology projects in the great outdoors, create a large sculpture in an art project, or gain experience in handling the camera and with Photoshop in a team photography project. In the team project Music Performance, they combine the creation of artistically ambitious videos with live music, and in Outdoor Adventure, they learn about their limits. In a team, one must stand up for each other, not be discouraged by setbacks, and pursue the set goal with perseverance. A special highlight of the collaborative work is the team project week, during which they work towards a common goal for an entire week. In the end, there is pride in the achievements made as a team and a very special sense of belonging. In this project, you can improve your skills in throwing, jumping, and running. This also creates a good athletic foundation for other sports such as soccer, basketball, or tennis. Additionally, you can try your hand at javelin throwing or hurdles. Badminton is a racquet sport, similar to shuttlecock, and is one of the sports with the highest energy expenditure. The fast, intense rallies really get the cardiovascular system going. Very healthy! Suitable for players of all skill levels, in both singles and doubles formats. Sachertorte, lemon cake, marble cake, Danube waves, brownies, nut cake, apple cake, quick cake, chocolate truffles, raspberry cake, strawberry cake, yeast pastries, sponge roll, quark cake, profiteroles, and much more. Everything will be tried! In our baking project, we will dive into the wonderful world of baking together! From classic cakes like Sachertorte and marble cake to fruity fruit cakes and fine pastries like cream puffs and sponge rolls – everything that’s fun to bake and delicious to taste will be made here. Through sit-ups, skippings, and much more, we will sweat, train, and have fun with music while exercising. A professional from the fitness studio “clever fit” in Waren will support us here. Do you love treats made from chocolate, nougat, nuts, or marzipan and have some baking experience? With skill and creativity, you can make your own pralines. Afterwards, you can indulge yourself or gift the little delicacies to friends and relatives. Who doesn’t dream of their first car: self-bought, self-repaired, self-tinkered! Together with a master mechanic, we will find an inexpensive, repairable classic car, create a list of defects, and draft a master plan to get the car back on the road. Our goal is to work cost-effectively without compromising on high quality and safety standards. We document each developmental step and work in the workshops of the Opel Schlingmann dealership in Waren. In the end, the car is to be sold, with the profits decided by: The car-doctors! Are you in? The confirmation is a solemn blessing ceremony that marks the transition into the church’s adulthood. The confirmation is carried out within the context of a celebratory worship service, during which the confirmands are to publicly affirm their faith. This is a connection to baptism as a child. We prepare you for this great moment. Your confirmation can also take place in your home parish. We want to cook and enjoy together with regional and seasonal products. You suggest what you feel like – whether it’s a concert, theater performance, exhibition, or stadium – we vote and set off together. Afterwards, we share our thoughts and write a report about our experiences: What impressed you? What surprised you? If you’re already a culture fan or simply curious – everyone from grade 9 onwards is welcome! Here, all friends of dance sports come together: whether it’s the latest dances from the “Dance4Fans” area or classic standard and Latin American dances… step by step, we will learn the corresponding figures. Even if you don’t have a dance partner, you are warmly welcomed. At our first meeting, we will determine the level and pair up the participants — same-gender pairs are also possible. Controversial debates that are sometimes overlooked in the classroom are discussed here in depth. The topics are chosen democratically based on their relevance. The content analysis of current conflict areas and the methodological-rhetorical training are equally emphasized. The goal is for you, regardless of your current abilities, to be able to debate freely, confidently, and well-informed by the end. Enjoyment of debating and interest in politics are the only prerequisite. The project is aimed at anyone who wants to see the world from a different perspective. You will receive theoretical and practical training and be introduced to the basics of recreational diving by an experienced diving instructor. After completing the course, you will have acquired the basic knowledge and skills required for safe recreational diving with equipment and will have obtained your diving license in accordance with the guidelines of the German Recreational Diving Association. To participate, you need a diving fitness certificate from a sports doctor. This course is subject to a fee and requires membership in the local diving club (annual club fee). Are you ready to turn your ideas into reality? In our creative workshop, you will immerse yourself in the colorful world of DIY – Do it yourself! We craft, pour, paint, plant, and experiment: From fragrant candles to colorful soaps to cool upcycling projects. All you need is curiosity and the desire to do it yourself. Every two weeks, we visit the seniors in the home. We read aloud, play games, bake, do crafts, and listen to them as they tell stories from the past. We take our time for a cozy coffee break or a walk. At the beginning of each visit, the head of the nursing service gives us an insight into daily life and explains the backgrounds of dementia and death in the group. These experiences touch us deeply, and we are grateful to be able to bring joy and a smile to the seniors. This project is chosen for an entire school year! First, we will collaboratively work on the fundamentals of drawing and watercolor painting. We will diversify and refine both the drawing and painting expression possibilities. Emphasis, alienation, underscoring, and accents are further ways to experiment playfully with content and visual design. Different templates from the fields of nature or literature can open up spaces for imagination. Personal creative ideas are also welcome and can be realized in the project. No projects or study periods are allowed parallel to driving school! It is possible to take the driving tests for classes A and B. Registration for A1 (motorcycles up to 125 cm³) can be done from the age of 15.5 years, for A2 (motorcycles over 50 cm³) from 17.5 years. Registration for class B can be done from 16.5 years, provided that one wants to drive accompanied. ### Theory lessons The theoretical instruction takes place in an intensive course and is completed within two weeks. Theoretical classes consist of 14 hours, followed by an exam. The practical lessons are scheduled individually with the student. At least two driving lessons per week should be completed. It’s an opportunity to listen and be heard, to learn from one another, and to broaden our perspectives. With this project, we aim to ensure a good basic provision of first aid at our boarding school. Interested students will be trained to care for the injured until the arrival of the emergency services. First aid knowledge will be regularly deepened, and a recognized first aid certificate can be obtained. You are eager to strengthen your body and spend some of your free time at the gym. Whether you’re a girl or a boy, here you will learn the basics of physical training to independently optimize your body composition in the following years. Whether it’s core training, freeletics, or weight training, a wide range of fitness training will challenge you once a week. Football is the number one popular sport in Germany. Accordingly, we also want to dedicate ourselves to the “most beautiful secondary matter in the world.” With a view to our team project from grade 9 onwards, the junior team offers a good entry point to further develop and improve one’s technical and athletic skills. This year, the goal is again to create a goal- and success-hungry team that participates in comparison tournaments with other teams. If you too want to take on the challenge of a team sport, achieving goals together, you are warmly welcome. In the garden project, we actively experience and shape nature. Together we plan, plant, care for, and harvest – and discover how exciting a garden can be. Those who bring this can quickly learn the basic techniques and will soon be able to hit, throw, swing, and tap. If enough girls join the team, we will form our own team. Be brave! Are you interested in hunting, nature conservation, or wildlife diseases? Then you know that you can’t just easily pass the “green Abitur”. Usually, your only options are intensive courses during vacation periods or on weekends. If you have completed such a course at an accredited hunting school and confirm this by presenting your hunting license, we recognize it as an accomplished high school project. If you feel like a joint-friendly endurance sport with a fun factor, come ice skating/in-line skating. Until mid-March, we go to the ice rink in Malchow, and in spring, we skate on various routes in Waren. You train your balance, your reflexes, and strengthen your muscles. For in-line skating, you need your own skates, helmet, and pads. What to expect from the career orientation at Dietz & Dietz: - Conducting a trainee & student profile test - Analysis of the results with expert report. - Discussion of further possibilities - Including analysis discussion approximately 1 hour - All further consultation appointments will be charged at €60/hour. - On-site or online - Travel costs are incurred for on-site appointments. The trainee profile test is an online test that participants can take on their own computer. During the test, they are accompanied by one of our staff members, either on-site or online. Way Ahead combines the expertise of three entrepreneurs with different focuses and years of experience in developing young people. They not only provide you with insights into a specific future scenario but also present you with a range of possibilities from which you can selectively choose your path. Together you will answer the following questions: - Where do my own talents and strengths lie – and how do they fit with career opportunities? - What additional skills should I acquire for this? - Which subjects and which universities at home and abroad suit me best – and how do I even apply? We teach according to the performance levels (lower/middle/upper levels) of the Association of German Music Schools. These qualification levels indicate the respective skill level of the child. Four years are planned for progressing through musical education in the lower and middle levels. In the upper level, instruction is provided at the level of the entrance exams for music colleges. And these are highly sought after in medicine. Over 45,000 applicants have applied again this winter semester for approximately 9,500 study places in human medicine. In the summer semester, the number of applicants was just under 15,000 for around 1,500 study places. Therefore, it is advisable to gain a good overview of the access opportunities to medical studies as early as possible. Selection interviews, Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs), and case simulations are important components of admission to many public and private universities. In such a selection process, you always have to compete against 2-3 other candidates. Applicants who have undergone preparation through planZ are usually successful. Mr. Paulat, in collaboration with experienced members of the team project, offers interested young judokas the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the judo sport. Jumping Fitness is an intense full-body workout on a mini trampoline with a handrail, accompanied by motivating music. A combination of aerobic steps, jumps, and balance exercises trains many muscle groups simultaneously. Once a week, we go together to Waren to CleverFit, where the class is specially offered for us. The project offers students the opportunity to obtain their golf license. It is also suitable for those who already have their license and want to play golf regularly. Participants in the project receive group training, are allowed to play independently on the various courses of the Fleesensee Golf Club, and take part in tournaments to improve their handicap. Volleyball offers a balance to everyday learning and trains both your entire musculature and your endurance. If you know how to handle the ball or want to improve your skills and are interested in learning more about volleyball techniques, then our team is the right place for you. We want to form a team and learn how to defeat our opponents in test matches through tactical play with fast balls. Kraft, Schnelligkeit, Geschicklichkeit – Das ist Kanurennsport! Wenn du Lust auf eine sportliche Herausforderung auf dem Wasser, gute Laune und Teamgeist hast, dann komm’ vorbei und steig mit ein! Im Sommer sind wir mit unseren verschiedenen Booten auf dem Wasser unterwegs. Im Winter trainieren wir unsere Kraft und Kondition in der Halle oder im Kraftraum. Karate is a Japanese martial art that includes punching, striking, kicking, blocking techniques, and foot sweep techniques. The focus is on effective self-defense. Physical fitness, flexibility, and explosiveness are trained. Fundamentals of Shotokan Karate and belt examinations are offered. In the simulation game Krafla, participants act in a management position of large energy corporations. They strive for economic success, but at the same time, they drive the climate crisis with the emissions from their power plants. This, in turn, has significant long-term effects on their economic activities… Krafla aims to support the energy transition and climate protection through educational measures. The goal is for participants to: - thinking future-oriented and viewing the world from this perspective, - understand the unjust distribution of benefits and burdens in the climate issue and accept the concept of climate justice, - Recognize interests, structures, and power relations that oppose sustainable development, and reflect on one’s own role in climate protection. Every year, people drown at unmonitored swimming areas. Lifeguards do their best to protect swimmers. The goal of the project is to earn the silver badge, which qualifies one for lifeguard duty. Skærbæk is a small town in Southern Denmark. It is located about 5 kilometers from the North Sea and roughly an hour’s drive north of Flensburg. The Skærbæk Leisure, Family, and Sports Center offers us optimal conditions and training facilities to further develop our team and strengthen the team spirit. In addition to excellent training fields, we have access to a swimming pool, a fitness center, and various sports facilities on site. Accommodation is provided in holiday homes with a maximum capacity of six people. We will set off together with two minibuses from Torgelow and have a great time in Skærbæk, near the North Sea! The team project Golf is open to all interested players who already have the necessary golf qualification on the day of the team project selection. In collaboration with the Golf and Country Club Fleesensee, the team project trains on-site on Wednesdays. The training covers all areas of the game of golf. Several tournaments take place during the season, giving project participants the opportunity to improve their handicap. On-site, we will stay in modern double rooms belonging to the golf resort. Breakfast will be served as a buffet in the morning and a set dinner in the evening. During the project week, you will refine your playing skills and gain a lot of practical experience through several rounds of golf. Ms. Marie Lehmann will also be joining us. The team project is open to all students who are generally interested in martial arts, as the focus of the training is on self-defense and self-assertion aspects. The dreamlike location, spacious, modern training facilities, the wide beach, and the maritime climate are the advantages that attract martial artists from all over the country to the Baltic seaside resort of Zinnowitz. In the sports hall complex, we have a hall with judo mats and opportunities for boxing training, a weight room, a sauna, and nearby swimming facilities. The judokas will be offered a varied training program. Technical training, falling techniques, randori, and challenging gymnastics are on the training schedule, as well as learning and applying self-defense strategies. As always, this year we will first head to the waters of Torgelower See to learn the basic skills of handling water and canoeing. Even during winter and in spring, we are mainly outdoors in nature. We deal with plants and animals of the region, with maps and orientation in the terrain, with nature-connected behavior, and the basic rules of outdoor living. Surviving without a mobile phone is also part of it. *Team project trip* - TIME FRAME: September 27 – October 3, 2025 - DESTINATION: Albania We will travel together to Albania. The starting and ending point is Torgelow Castle. The journey will be by train to the airport and then by airplane. We spend the first and last night in solid accommodations at Lake Shkodër in the backpackers’ hostel “Mi Casa Es Tu Casa.” From there, we paddle for four days on the Buna River to the Adriatic Sea. The focus is on shared experiences, improvisation, setting up tents, and mastering everyday tasks under simple conditions. Luggage should be consciously reduced to the essentials – ideally only half of what one usually considers “necessary.” Everyone carries their own luggage, and the storage space in the kayak is severely limited. The team project Riding – only for experienced riders – takes place once a week and on boarding school weekends in Malchow, to train with our riding instructors at the local equestrian facility. In addition to the usual lessons in jumping and dressage, we go on rides during the warmer half of the year to practice safety in the field. We have many different school horses available. Personal horses can be brought after consultation. The facility is equipped with the following amenities: indoor riding arena, outdoor riding arena, jumping arena with obstacles, dressage arena, lungeing circle. *Team project trip* - TIME FRAME: 28.09.-02.10.25 - DESTINATION: Warnemünde Our team project trip will take us again this year to the Blohm riding school in the beautiful Warnemünde. The multigenerational business run by the family offers a large riding arena, outdoor spaces, and several small holiday apartments. In addition to daily dressage and jump training sessions, a trail ride is also planned. The Baltic Sea is only a few meters away from the riding stables, and the city center of Rostock is also quickly accessible. Therefore, we can respond to your wishes in a very individual and spontaneous way and put together a nice program for the evenings as well. Sailing on the largest inland lake in Germany. Whether you are a sailing beginner or an experienced sailor, you will be challenged and supported here. We sail on the school’s own 420 dinghies. With this challenging boat, you can glide over the water at high speed while one person flies above the water in a trapeze. In the sailing team project, we not only work together in pairs, but we also have fun together, take responsibility for the team and the equipment. “Sailors become strong in winter” – Ideas for the winter program: general fitness, swimming training, boat and equipment maintenance, sailing theory, knot knowledge, basics of navigation, preparation for the sailing basic certificate and, if needed, support for obtaining the inland motorboat license. *Team project trip* - PERIOD: September 28 – October 2, 2025 - DESTINATION: Warnemünde *“Sailing off Warnemünde – sporting passion on the Baltic Sea”* An exciting adventure awaits. This year’s sailing project takes us to the Baltic Sea – to Warnemünde. We will be staying at the stylish DOCK INN. An unforgettable time on, in, and around the water is ahead of us. Together, we will set sail with the dinghies/keelboats and learn or train in handling, courses to the wind, etc. Highlight: Day tour/yacht trip with the winning yacht of the 2010 Rolex Cups or a Bavaria 40 Cruiser towards Denmark. *“Those who cannot control the wind must adjust the sails differently – it is not the storm that determines the course, but the courage to withstand it.”* The team project Tennis offers its participants, in collaboration with the tennis school at the Golf & Country Club Fleesensee, the opportunity to focus on tennis as a sport once a week and during the boarding school weekends. Under very good training conditions on six indoor courts and nine outdoor courts, the students are trained by two coaches in small groups for three hours each. The following selection criteria apply, based on which the team project leader decides on the admission of applicants for the new school year: social behavior at Schloss Torgelow (boarding school, school, projects), sports engagement in the previous year (team project tennis or tennis in a club) + playing strength (assessment by the team project leader or coaches). The students who wish to choose the team project should bring motivation and good fitness. *Team project trip* - TIMEFRAME: 29.09.-03.10.2025 - DESTINATION: Hamburg Our team project trip takes us to the Racket Inn in Hamburg – an established tennis facility with twelve clay courts and four indoor courts. In this environment, we will improve our technique and strengthen our team spirit. During four intensive training days, we primarily train on outdoor courts (clay) in small groups under the guidance of experienced and qualified coaches. We are accommodated in triple rooms with private bathrooms. Meals are provided in the form of half-board, allowing us to start the day well-nourished and end it together. Wir besuchen ein Stück im Deutschen Nationaltheater Weimar, entdecken die Kulturstadt Weimar und schauen uns das älteste Barocktheater der Welt in Gotha an. Das Highlight: Auf genau dieser Bühne dürft ihr selbst in Ruhe proben und euer eigenes Stück entwickeln – die Grundlage für eure Aufführung am Ende des Schuljahres. Die Anreise erfolgt mit der Bahn. Wir wohnen in Erfurt in einer Jugendherberge und werden dort versorgt. In the team project volleyball, the focus is, of course, primarily on having fun with the game. The goal is to develop a stable game dynamic over the course of the school year, characterized by motivation, active participation, and technical progress. As it is a team sport, team spirit and cohesion are also essential components. The team project volleyball actively participates in the game operations of the city league Waren (Müritz) and regularly competes against various teams from the Müritz region during the winter months until spring. Team spirit and fun in the game are the focus. *Team project excursion* - TIMEFRAME: 29.09.-03.10.2025 - DESTINATION: Skaerbaek (Denmark) We are going back to Skærbæk in Denmark! Skærbæk is a small town in southern Denmark, about 5 kilometers from the North Sea and roughly a one-hour drive north of Flensburg. The Skærbæk leisure, family, and sports center provides us with optimal conditions and training facilities to further develop our team and strengthen team spirit. In addition to excellent training fields, we have access to a swimming pool, a fitness center, and various sports facilities on-site. Accommodation is provided in holiday homes with a maximum capacity of six people. Are you unsure if your chosen field of study matches your abilities? In this project, we construct and build with the material wood. We practice using tools like hammers, hand saws, or hand drills. You will learn or deepen your skills in woodworking, such as sawing, filing, sanding, and much more. Together, we create our own small pieces like a candy dispenser or a Viking chess game. We make Christmas or Easter decorations to give as gifts and simply build whatever you feel like. Anyone who is interested and eager to work with wood should sign up! With your body, you also send messages and signals during a presentation, even without words.
