Digital Learning in the STEM Field
The departments of Biology and Chemistry, along with two other teachers from the STEM field, participated in an internal training on the topic of “Cross-disciplinary Teaching with Digital Media.” As an expert, Melanie Ripsam was from the Technical University of Munich guests at Schloss Torgelow.
The focus was on the question of how digital media can enrich science education, specifically through digital data collection, which is becoming increasingly important in light of the requirements for the final school examination, as well as through the use of augmented reality learning environments.
In practical units, the teachers discussed and tested when digital tools are meaningful and beneficial for learning in the classroom, and when they may be more of a distraction. This also promoted cross-disciplinary exchange as well as a reflective approach to the use of digital aids.
The training provided numerous impulses for the further development of STEM education at Schloss Torgelow. The goal remains clear: digital media should be used where they support, deepen, and enrich learning processes. The focus is on responsible, effective, and forward-thinking teaching.
