Therefore, at Schloss Torgelow, we place great importance on individual artistic or musical activity. The wide range of offerings provides each individual with the opportunity to find a project that corresponds to their interests and inclinations. ## Musical promotion Many of our students learn an instrument, play in the school band, or sing in the castle choir. Instrumental and vocal teachers support the educational team in the musical offerings. The best students play in the orchestra or participate in the competition “Youth Makes Music.” Regular concerts and recital evenings are well-attended highlights of boarding school life. Others stage plays that are performed in German or a foreign language. They paint, design sculptures, or create ceramics – all of these are opportunities for the people of Torgelow to try out and discover new skills. ## Culture in the Castle Under the title “Culture in the Castle,” we regularly invite authors, artists, musicians, and theater groups to join us. Here, we create a forum for interaction between cultural creators and students from Torgelow. Through discussions and joint activities, important experiences can be gathered for one’s own work. In the abundance of offerings, the need for privacy is also respected. Especially among the elderly, retreating is often a way to express what is personal and special. Therefore, every week, music teachers come to our school to offer lessons in almost all common instruments. If we cannot cover an instrument ourselves, we work closely with the music school in Waren, which complements our teaching. Our school is too small for a full orchestra, but we have several instrumental groups where music-loving students can play and perform together. Yes. A highlight of the year is the Christmas concert at St. Georgen Church in Waren. In addition, our students put together a spring concert for the parent-teacher meeting in May, musically accompany festive school events, and enrich the Advent season with a musical Advent calendar that accompanies us from December 1 until the Christmas holidays during school assemblies. We continually invite artists to Torgelow – theater, music, and readings enrich our school life. In addition, regular theater visits to Berlin, Rostock, and Hamburg as well as cultural events in the region are part of the program.
