Boarding School Schloss Torgelow on the move: Team project “Football” – Denmark reloaded
The team project Football was hosted in beautiful Denmark again this school year and spent its training camp once more in Skaerbaek, near the North Sea island of Rømø.
Our week was characterized by intense training sessions, exciting friendly matches against Danish club teams, and relaxation in the swimming pool as well as the wonderful holiday homes of the Skaerbaek center.
After a relaxing bus ride, excellently organized by our bus company MC-Charter, we were able to move into our cozy holiday homes on Monday afternoon and set up for the week. A holiday home in Skaerbaekcenter is always equipped with a fully functional kitchen, air conditioning, a television, and offers enough space for four students. Upon arrival, we had a first small training session before the subsequent dinner and many great conversations. The coach then prepared us for the first test match scheduled for the following morning against a neighboring sports school.
On Tuesday, the bus took us to the game. Our newly formed team this school year was clearly inferior to the opponent, but the atmosphere was good and we were able to gather important insights for our second test on Wednesday evening. In the afternoon, recovery and swimming were on the agenda.
Wednesday morning was entirely focused on optimizing our team playstyle. New tactics were discussed and practiced. The team was perfectly prepared for the game in the evening. After a good afternoon recovery, we were ready.
In the evening, there was the much-anticipated highlight of the team project trip: Our team fully implemented the coach’s instructions against an opponent who was stronger both physically and in terms of gameplay, managing to hold our ground throughout the entire match. We lost this game very narrowly as well, but after the game, we were so proud and satisfied with our performance that the coach spontaneously organized a “team reward dinner.” Even the referee and the opposing team were impressed and full of praise. As a thank you for this performance, we were allowed to take the match ball home, which made everyone even more satisfied.
On Thursday, after a thorough evaluation, there was an excursion to the impressive Lakolk Beach on Rømø and a very tasty barbecue evening. Our journey home on Friday was also relaxed, and everyone arrived home safely.
Thank you very much to everyone involved for this great week!
