*At the end of the school year, our editorial team was allowed to experience a very special highlight: an exclusive preview of the exhibition “Banksy – A Vandal Turned Idol,” currently on display in the halls of the old print shop of the Ostsee-Zeitung in Rostock.*

Even before the doors were opened to the public, we had the opportunity to take a first look at the impressive works of perhaps the most mysterious street art artist in the world. Alongside original works and high-quality prints, we were able to explore Banksy’s artworks virtually on building walls using a VR headset – a fascinating experience that excitingly combines modern technology and urban art.

Banksy remains an artist in hiding – his identity remains unclear to this day. Is he a man? A woman? Or even a collective? Old photographs always show the same person – always from behind, always anonymous. What is certain is that his works carry a clear message. Created on the streets of Bristol and London, his graffiti can now be found all over the world – but often only for a short time. Because street art is ephemeral: painted over, removed, or damaged.

The exhibition impressively showcases how critically Banksy comments on society – with much irony, provocation, and an undeniable political undertone. The deeper you delve in, the clearer it becomes: His art is more than mere wall painting – it is a stance.

We sincerely thank everyone involved for this extraordinary opportunity – especially [Concertbüro Zahlmann GmbH](https://www.cbz.events/en), which invited us and made this experience possible. It was an unforgettable end to the school year – and definitely a visit we can recommend to each and every one!

Banksy’s work can still be experienced in Rostock until the end of 2025 – a must for all art and social enthusiasts.
