Schloss Torgelow:
For girls and boys with a bright future

In 1994, the private boarding school Schloß Torgelow was opened by the Lehmann family. The school was founded in order to enable bright pupils to be challenged and motivated, thus giving them the opportunity of fulfilling their potential and taking the Abitur at the end of Year 12.

In 1961 Mrs. Erna Lehmann founded its sister school Kurpfalz-Internat as she recognised that poor performance at school was rarely due to lack of intelligence. For the last 46 years, intelligent pupils who had previously been performing badly at school have been receiving intensive help in classes containing a maximum of 7 pupils. Their problem areas are systematically dealt with and they are brought up to Realschulabschluß or Abitur level. Today the school is run by Helge Lehmann, Dip. Psych., and Mario Lehmann, law graduate.

Professional success begins at school

We, the Lehmann family, have been running our school the Kurpfalz-Internat in Heidelberg for more than four decades and guiding pupils to the Abitur. From our experience we have seen how discipline, tolerance and self-confidence can open the door to success.

Small classes, intensive teaching, Abitur in 12 years

High levels of achievement and the acquisition of a profound knowledge base are of the utmost importance at Torgelow. Therefore we expect a great deal of commitment from our teachers and pupils.
Our high aims are achievable as no class ever exceeds 12 pupils. During lessons the individual is not only challenged but also highly stimulated.

As a result of concentrated and effective teaching in small classes, and close cooperation between teachers and tutors, Torgelow pupils are able to achieve the fully accredited Abitur in only 12 school years.
Europe:

Languages, exchange programmes,
discussion groups in the foreign language

Foreign languages are becoming increasingly important in Europe. The fact that Torgelow pupils can learn English, French, Latin, Russian and Spanish reflects this trend. Our exchange programme with foreign partners, our school trips and discussion groups led by native speakers teach the Torgelow pupils to speak the languages fluently.

A school year in Germany:
Beginners and advanced programmes

To participate in the programme, a basic knowledge of the German language is recommended. This can be obtained at the Humboldt-Institut in Germany. During the school year at Schloss Torgelow we offer a German language programme which operates in conjunction with the pupil’s normal timetable. Pupils who participate in the programme with no knowledge of German will take a beginner’s course which follows the Humboldt-Institut syllabus. This enables them to follow normal lessons in classes of maximum 12 pupils without difficulty. Once they have a good working knowledge of German the pupils are integrated into the normal classes at Schloss Torgelow. Young people with a satisfactory to good knowledge of German attend lessons in a German class at Schloss Torgelow right from the start. In addition they are taught German as a foreign language.
